Support for housing & Community
As part of Ironbound Community Corporation (ICC), Ironbound Justice is deeply committed to advancing housing justice in Newark and beyond. Housing inequality remains a pressing issue, with recent data indicating that a significant portion of Newark residents face challenges such as unaffordable rents and inadequate housing conditions.
According to a report by the National Low Income Housing Coalition, in 2021, a minimum wage worker in Newark would need to work 84 hours per week to afford a modest one-bedroom rental home at fair market rent. This statistic underscores the urgent need for action, and ICC is at the forefront of the fight.
We're not just talking about the problem; we're actively working to address it. Through grassroots organizing, advocacy campaigns, and community partnerships, Ironbound Justice is fighting for policies that ensure affordable, safe, and dignified housing for all. From advocating for tenant rights to developing affordable housing initiatives, we're empowering residents to demand and access housing that meets their needs. Together, we're striving to build a more equitable and just housing system for Newark and all of its residents.
